Lysacek to return for upcoming season

London, England – Olympic champion skater Evan Lysacek has decided his return to competition.

Lysacek, the gold medalist in men's figure skating at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, made the announcement Friday on the "Today Show" in London.

The two-time U.S. champion has not skated competitively since becoming the sixth American to win Olympic gold two years ago. He will also try to defend his title at the 2014 Sochi Games.

Lysacek took the 2011 season off to pursue other interests. His first event will be Skate America in October.
