New York tests unbeaten home mark against Houston

Harrison, NJ – The Houston Dynamo maintained their undefeated home record last week against Red Bull New York and could emerge from the away leg of the home-and-home series Friday as the lone unbeaten at home in MLS.

Jermaine Taylor and Calen scored as Houston beat New York, 2-0, last Friday at BBVA Compass Stadium to remain unbeaten at its new home. Overall, dating back to last season, the Dynamo are unbeaten in 19 straight at home.

New York is only other MLS team still undefeated at home this season.

Houston (11-5-7), which moved to the top of the Eastern Conference last week, will try to solve New York (11-7-5) on the road this week.

The Red Bulls have seven wins and three draws at Red Bull Arena this year. The Dynamo have just three wins in 12 road games, and lost 1-0 at New York in May.

"To feel too good about this win would be a little foolish," Carr said. "We're going to enjoy it for sure but at the same time we'll get ready and prepare.

"We'll be ready on Friday. New York is a tough place to play and a great team and we want to keep our momentum going."

Houston, which lost the MLS Cup to the Los Angeles Galaxy last season, has won five straight matches overall and is unbeaten in its last eight matches dating back to late June.

The Dynamo have won on the road during its streak, at Toronto FC, 2-0. Houston also tied Sporting Kansas City, 0-0, on the road.

Houston has maintained its good form, especially defensively, despite the loss of center back Geoff Cameron to Stoke City of the English Premier League. The Dynamo have three straight shutouts and six in their last eight matches.

Coach Dominic Kinnear will have another option this week, as former midfielder Ricardo Clark signed a contract this week to return to the club and could play against New York.

New York has been in constant change this season, and Australian international Tim Cahill made his debut last week in Houston. The Red Bulls continued to add talent this week, signing once-capped United States goalkeeper Luis Robles.

Just two points off the top in third place, Sporting Kansas City is even on 40 points with Houston, New York remains within reach of the summit. With another win at home, it will escape the rematch atop the standings.
