Red Sox place Padilla on DL

The Boston Red Sox placed right-handed pitcher Vicente Padilla on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with right arm tightness.

The 34-year-old is 4-1 with a 4.62 earned run average in 39 innings pitched this season.

To take Padilla's spot on the active roster, the Red Sox recalled right-handed pitcher Clayton Mortensen from Triple-A Pawtucket. He is 1-0 with a 1.17 ERA in 10 appearances for Boston this year.
