Oakland Raiders running back Mike Goodson suffered a neck injury during Tuesday's practice after an apparent helmet-to-helmet hit with linebacker Philip Wheeler.

Goodson caught a short pass during an individual drill and turned up field before being hit by Wheeler, according to multiple reports. He was strapped to a backboard before being loaded into an ambulance and taken to an undisclosed hospital.

Goodson's CT scan and MRI exams were negative and he has returned to the team's training camp headquarters.

Goodson, acquired in a trade from Carolina earlier this year, has been competing with Taiwan Jones for the backup spot behind starter Darren McFadden.
