Detroit Lions defensive end Cliff Avril signed his franchise tender and reported to training camp on Sunday.
Avril was designated the franchise tag, worth $10.6 million, back in March and the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a long-term contract by the July 16 deadline, leading to his holdout.
The 26-year-old Avril has improved his sack total each season since being drafted by the Lions in the third round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He paced the team in that category last season with 11 while starting all 16 games for the first time in his career.
For his career, the Purdue product has registered 30 sacks and 14 forced fumbles.
