Columbus, OH – Columbus Crew rookie midfielder Kirk Urso died Sunday morning, the MLS club announced. He was 22.
Columbus issued a press release Sunday morning to announce the news, and said, "The circumstances of Urso's passing are still being determined, no further comments will be made at this time.
"The thoughts and prayers of the entire Columbus Crew and Hunt Sports Group are with the Urso family in this time of need."
Urso was selected in the first round, 10th overall, in MLS Supplemental Draft in March from North Carolina. A former United States youth player, Urso played six times for the Crew, including five starts.
