Nelson Piquet Jr. captured the pole for this afternoon’s Pocono Mountains 125 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway.
SPEED will televise today’s race live, starting with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Piquet, who was also fastest in Happy Hour yesterday, put his No. 30 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado on the pole for the second time in 41 career Truck Series starts. He lapped the 2.5-mile track at 169.504 miles per hour, a new track qualifying record.
"I feel at home when I come to Pocono,” said Piquet. “Everyone is so welcoming and there are some diehard race fans in Pennsylvania. After a weekend off, I'm always more than ready to get back to the racetrack.”
Ty Dillon will start on the outside of Row 1 in the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevy after qualifying at 169.252 mph, with Piquet’s teammate, Miguel Paludo, third in a second Turner Chevrolet, running 168.631 mph.
Dillon’s teammate, Joey Coulter was fourth, while James Buescher was fifth, making it three Turner Chevys in the top five.
The second five consisted of Tim George, Paulie Harraka, Timothy Peters, Matt Crafton and Ron Hornaday Jr.
Today’s race is the 11th of 22 on the 2012 Truck Series schedule. Peters comes into the event with a lead of 23 points over Dillon and 30 over Justin Lofton.
