The Colorado Rockies have placed pitcher Christian Friedrich and outfielder Michael Cuddyer on the 15-day disabled list.

Friedrich is on the DL due to a stress fracture in his lower back. The move for the left-hander is retroactive to July 29. So far this season, his first in the majors, Friedrich is 5-8 with a 6.17 ERA in 16 starts.

Cuddyer, who is out due to a strained right oblique, has batted .260 with 15 homers and 56 RBI in 98 contests in 2012. His DL move is retroactive to August 1.

The Rockies also selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Matt McBride from Colorado Springs and recalled right-handed pitcher Edgmer Escalona from the Triple-A club.

McBride, who has spent his entire season playing at Colorado Springs, has hit .354 with 10 homers and 77 RBI in 91 games. Escalona has a mark of 0-1 with an 8.53 ERA in seven appearances for the Rockies this year.
