The Arizona Diamondbacks released outfielder Scott Podsednik on Thursday after he declined his assignment to Triple-A Reno.

Podsednik and reliever Matt Albers were acquired from Boston at the trade deadline on Tuesday for reliever Craig Breslow.

Podsednik, 36, has bounced around the league since a three-year stint with the White Sox from 2005-07. He began the year in Philadelphia's system before going to Boston and posting a .387 batting average in 19 games.

In 11 seasons and 1,035 games with seven different franchises, Podsednik has a .281 batting average and 307 stolen bases.

Albers joined the Diamondbacks in Philadelphia were they are set to begin a three-game set on Friday.
