Memphis, TN – Jackson State and Tennessee State have agreed to continue playing each other in the Southern Heritage Classic until 2019.
The rivalry game is played annually on the second Saturday in September at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The new agreement extends a deal that was set to expire after the 2014 season.
Tennessee State, from the Ohio Valley Conference, has appeared in every Southern Heritage Classic since the event's inception in 1990. Jackson State, from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, has appeared in 20 of the 22 matchups.
This year's game will be played Sept. 8.
