The Atlanta Braves placed pitcher Jair Jurrjens on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with a groin strain.

The move makes room for left-hander Paul Maholm, who was acquired along with outfielder Reed Johnson from the Chicago Cubs Monday night.

Jurrjens has struggled this season, going 3-4 with a 6.89 earned run average in 11 games (10 starts) for the Braves. A year ago, he won 13 games and compiled a 2.96 ERA.
