Phoenix, AZ – The Boston Red Sox acquired Craig Breslow for their bullpen from Arizona in exchange for Matt Albers and Scott Podsednik.
Breslow, 31, is in his first year with the Diamondbacks after three with the Athletics and has a 2-0 record with a 2.70 earned run average in 40 relief appearances.
It's his second stint with the Red Sox after 13 games with them in 2006, and he's 14-17 with a 3.02 lifetime ERA in 335 games with San Diego, Boston, Cleveland, Minnesota, Oakland and Arizona.
Albers, 29, is having a solid season for Boston in his second season there, posting a 2-0 mark with a 2.29 ERA in 40 games. In 277 career games with Boston, Baltimore and Houston, Albers is 21-29 with a 4.78 ERA.
Podsednik, 36, has bounced around the league since a three-year stint with the White Sox from 2005-07. He began the year in Philadelphia's system before going to Boston and posting a .387 batting average in 19 games.
In 11 seasons and 1,035 games with seven different franchises, Podsednik has a .281 batting average and 307 stolen bases.
