China's Li Xueying established two new Olympic records en route to the gold medal in women's 56kg weightlifting at the 2012 Olympic Games on Monday.
Li lifted 108 kg in the snatch, setting a new Olympic mark, and lifted a total of 246 kg to finish first in the event and secure China's second gold medal in weightlifting this Games. She also lifted 138 kg to lead all competitors in the clean and jerk.
Thailand's Pimsiri Sirikaew was second in the clean and jerk, lifting 136 kg, and earned the silver medal largely on the strength of that lift. Ukraine's Yuliya Kalina lifted 106 kg in the snatch to place second to Li, and finished with the bronze in the event.
China has won three medals in the four weightlifting events completed so far. The medals were Thailand's and Ukraine's first in the discipline.
