The Minnesota Twins placed infielder Trevor Plouffe on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a bruised right thumb.
Over 75 games this season, Plouffe is batting .259 with a career-high 19 home runs and 38 RBI. In 177 career games Plouffe has hit .241 with 29 homers and 75 RBI.
To replace Plouffe, the Twins will recall Danny Valencia from Triple-A Rochester. Valencia started the season with Minnesota but was optioned to Rochester on May 9.
In 69 games with Rochester, Valencia batted .250 with seven home runs and 37 RBI.
