Steelers extend WR Brown

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed wide receiver Antonio Brown to a five-year extension on Friday.

The team did not announce how much the contract is worth, but reports indicate that it will pay Brown $42.5 million through the 2017 season.

Brown, who was voted by his teammates as the team's most valuable player last season, was second in the NFL with 2,211 all-purpose yards, setting a new Steelers record.

The 24-year-old reeled in 69 passes for 1,108 yards receiving, 325 returning punts, 737 yards returning kickoffs and 41 yards rushing with three total touchdowns.

The 5-foot-10 wideout was a sixth-round pick by the Steelers in the 2010 NFL draft. In two seasons, Brown has 85 catches for 1,275 yards in 25 games with Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are currently without wide receiver Mike Wallace, who has yet to sign his one-year franchise tender.
