Fiorentina signs Chilean Fernandez

Florence, Italy – Fiorentina signed Chilean midfielder Matias Fernandez from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon on Friday.

Fernandez, 26, played for Sporting Lisbon from 2009-12, and makes the move to Italy for on a transfer fee reported to be around $6 million.

Capped 50 times for Chile since his debut in 2005, Fernandez has 13 goals in his international career. He has also played for Colo-Colo in Chile, as well as Villarreal in Spain during his club career.
