The San Diego Chargers signed quarterback Kyle Boller to a one-year deal Friday.
The 31-year-old Boller played in seven games with the Oakland Raiders over the past two seasons, starting one, and threw for 186 yards on 32 attempts with no touchdowns and four interceptions.
Boller, a 2003 first-round pick, has completed 56.7 percent of his passes in eight seasons with the Ravens, Rams and Raiders. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound veteran has thrown for 8,931 yards in 67 games -- 47 starts -- and tossed 48 touchdowns and 54 picks.
The Chargers needed a quarterback when Charlie Whitehurst left practice early on Thursday after having his left leg rolled. Without Whitehurst, San Diego only had quarterbacks Philip Rivers and undrafted rookie Jarrett Lee on its roster.
