Capello signs two-year deal to coach Russia

Former England manager Fabio Capello signed a two-year contract on Thursday to coach Russia.

The 66-year-old Capello stepped down as coach of England in February, ending a reign that started in 2008. He led England to knockout play in the 2010 World Cup, and helped the Three Lions qualify for Euro 2012.

In addition to his international coaching experience, Capello has guided club teams AC Milan, Real Madrid, Roma and Juventus.

The former Italy international, who earned 32 caps from 1972-78, replaces Dick Advocaat as Russia coach. Advocaat resigned after Russia was eliminated in the group stage of Euro 2012.

Capello will be responsible for taking Russia to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
