The Winnipeg Jets are showing their commitment to retaining restricted free agent forward Evander Kane.

The Free Press reported on Tuesday that Kane, the club's leading goal scorer last season, has been offered a $29 million deal over six years.

Kane, who will turn 21 in early August, totaled 30 goals and 57 points and logged a career-high plus-11 in 74 games for Winnipeg in 2011-12, the final year of his initial entry-level contract.

In 213 games, all with the Thrashers/Jets franchise, the Vancouver native has racked up 63 goals and 63 assists.
