The Washington Nationals have recalled pitcher John Lannan from Triple-A Syracuse.
Lannan, the Nationals' opening day starter in 2009 and 2010, will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Braves. He posted a 6-9 record with a 4.89 ERA in 18 starts for Syracuse this season.
The left-hander went 10-13 with a 3.70 ERA in 33 starts for the Nationals last year.
Washington also reinstated outfielder Xavier Nady from the 15-day disabled list and designated him for assignment.
In 40 games for the Nationals this season, Nady hit just .157 with three homers and six RBI.
