White Sox place Floyd on DL, activate Humber

The Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher Gavin Floyd on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow tendinitis and activated right-hander Philip Humber.

Floyd threw 7 2/3 scoreless innings in his last outing on July 7 versus Toronto. He is 7-8 with a 4.54 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 17 starts this season.

This is Floyd's first trip to the disabled list in his career.

Humber, scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Red Sox, had been on the DL since June 22 with a right elbow flexor strain.

Heading into Tuesday's action, Humber is 3-4 with a 6.01 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 12 starts for the White Sox this season. He threw a perfect game on April 21 against Seattle.
