The Kansas City Royals recalled pitchers Ryan Verdugo and Vin Mazzaro from Triple-A Omaha.
Verdugo will start Tuesday's game against the Mariners. He went 6-2 with a 3.58 earned run average in 18 games (15 starts) with Omaha this season.
Mazzaro enters Tuesday's action with a 3-3 mark and a 5.70 ERA in eight games (six starts) with the Royals this year.
Kansas City also designated pitcher Jonathan Sanchez for assignment and optioned outfielder Jason Bourgeois to Omaha.
Sanchez went 1-6 with a 7.76 ERA in 12 starts for the Royals this season, his first after six with the Giants.
