Report: Jets G Pavelec gets DUI in Czech Republic

Winnipeg Jets goalie Ondrej Pavelec was reportedly charged with driving under the influence in his native Czech Republic after crashing his car.

The Winnipeg Sun is reporting that a Czech media outlet said that Pavelec rear-ended a vehicle while driving his car on May 26.

No one was injured in the accident, according to the report and that Pavelec's blood alcohol level was 0.2 at the time. He was sentenced to probation and had his driving privileges suspended for 20 months.

The Jets released a statement on Monday: "At this time True North Sports & Entertainment and the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club are aware of various, yet still inconsistent, internet reports pertaining to Ondrej Pavelec. We, as an organization, are attempting to gather more information and until such time as we are comfortable and have a full understanding of the situation, we will not be issuing any further comment."

Pavelec re-signed with the team last month after going 29-8-9 with a 2.91 goals against average and a .906 save percentage last season. He also matched a career best with four shutouts.

In his five-year career, all of which with the Winnipeg/Atlanta franchise, the 24-year-old is 70-79-25 with a 2.99 GAA and a .907 save percentage. He has 10 career shutouts.
