Fiorentina signed Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui on Wednesday for an undisclosed fee, while terminating the contract of midfielder Houssine Kharja.

El Hamdaoui, 27, was a regular in the Ajax side under former manager Martin Jol, but he found himself on the sidelines after a dispute with manager Frank de Boer.

The Moroccan still had two years remaining on his Ajax contract, and he becomes the third new signing this summer for Fiorentina, joining Egyptian Ahmed Hegazy and Palermo defender Mattia Cassani.

Kharja appeared in 19 Serie A matches for the Viola last campaign after spending time with Genoa and Inter Milan the previous season.

But the 29-year-old, who still had one season remaining on his contract, was let go after reports suggested that he had agreed to a deal with Al Arabi in Qatar last month.
