Atlanta, GA – The Brooklyn Nets have apparently continued their busy offseason by acquiring All-Star guard Joe Johnson in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks.
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Nets have agreed to a deal that will land them Johnson in return for Jordan Farmar, Anthony Morrow, Johan Petro, DeShawn Stevenson and Jordan Williams -- players with expiring contracts -- and Houston's lottery-protected 2013 first-round draft pick.
Johnson signed a massive contract with the Hawks prior to the 2010-11 season and is due $90 million over the next four years. Johnson has made the All-Star team the last six seasons, but saw his production drop slightly over the past two years.
In 60 games last season, the Arkansas product averaged 18.8 points and 3.9 assists. He also shot just 25 percent from three-point range in a first-round playoff loss to the Celtics.
The Nets, in their first offseason before moving to Brooklyn, have reportedly re-signed Gerald Wallace and are one of the teams in the running for free agent point guard Deron Williams.
