Agnieszka Radwanska, Samantha Stosur, Li Na and Sabine Lisicki were among the early winners Monday on the first day of play at Wimbledon.

The third-seeded Radwanska earned a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Slovakia's Magdalena Rybarikova, while Stosur, the fifth seed and reigning U.S. Open champion, eased past Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro, 6-1, 6-3. The 11th-seeded former French Open champ Li thumped Ksenia Pervak of Kazakhstan, 6-3, 6-1, and Lisicki, a semifinalist last year at the All England Club, cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Croatia's Petra Martic.

Other winners included Japan's Ayumi Morita, Anna Tatashvili of Georgia and Italy's Camila Giorgi. Morita topped Jarmila Gajdosova, 6-4, 6-3, while Tatashvili claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tamarine Tanasugarn. Giorgi provided the first upset of the tournament with a 6-4, 6-3 win over countrymate Flavia Pennetta, the 16th seed.

Top-seeded Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams and Kim Clijsters are also slated for action on Monday. Sharapova, the 2004 Wimbledon champ who completed a career Grand Slam with her triumph at the French Open earlier this month, will take on Anastasia Rodionova. Williams, a five-time Wimbledon champ who is unseeded for this year's London fortnight, will meet Russian veteran Elena Vesnina and Clijsters, also unseeded and playing Wimbledon for the final time, will face 18th-seeded Jelena Jankovic.
