Fulham confirmed on Monday that midfielder Danny Murphy will leave the club for Blackburn when his contract expires at the end of June.

The 35-year-old made 169 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers since his arrival in 2007, but he will move to relegated Blackburn on a two-year contract.

"I have enjoyed a fantastic five years at Fulham and I'd like to thank the club and the fans for all their support," Murphy said.

"Now, my new challenge is to help Blackburn get promoted and repay the manager's and the owners' faith in me."

Murphy was named captain of Fulham in 2009 and helped the club reach the 2010 Europa League final.

In addition to his time at Fulham, Murphy has enjoyed spells at Crewe Alexandra, Liverpool, Charlton and Tottenham.
