San Diego Padres pitcher Anthony Bass left Wednesday's start against the Texas Rangers with inflammation in his right shoulder.

Bass was pitching well against the league's best offense prior to exiting early, as he held Texas to one run on three hits and a walk in the first five innings.

The right-hander also had a two-run single in the second, but failed to make it out of the dugout for the sixth because of the injury.

The 24-year-old Bass has made 13 starts this season and has pitched past the sixth inning on just two occasions. He owns a 2-7 record with a 4.88 earned run average.
