The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Drew Stubbs on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a strained muscle on his left side.

The move is retroactive to June 6 as Stubbs is also suffering from a flu-like virus.

On the season, he is batting .235 with seven homers and 18 RBI over 53 games.

The team recalled utilityman Willie Harris from Triple-A Louisville to fill the roster. To make room on the roster for Harris, the team transferred pitcher Nick Masset, who has been out since April 4 with a strained right shoulder, from the 15-day to the 60-day DL.

Chris Heisey, who has been playing center in Stubbs' absence, is saddled with a mild left groin strain, so Wilson Valdez made his first start in center for Friday's game against the Mets.
