The Detroit Tigers placed left-hander Drew Smyly on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a blister on the middle finger of his pitching hand.

The move is retroactive to Monday, a day after Smyly left his start against the Reds after just three innings.

The rookie, who turned 23 on Wednesday, is 2-2 with a 3.96 ERA in 12 starts.

The Tigers recalled Ryan Raburn, who was optioned to Triple-A Toledo last month. Raburn was batting .146 with a .209 on-base percentage in 37 games before being sent down.
