The New York Mets reinstated pitcher Chris Young from the paternity leave list on Friday.

Young made his first start in 13 months Tuesday against the Washington Nationals after missing most of 2011 due to shoulder surgery.

The 6-foot-10 right-hander surrendered three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and a walk through five innings

To make room for Young on the roster, the Mets optioned Pedro Beato to Triple- A Buffalo.
