Washington, DC – The Washington Nationals reinstated pitcher Brad Lidge off the 15-day disabled list Thursday.
The 10-year veteran has appeared in seven games for the Nationals this year, pitching to a 5.14 ERA with two saves, but has been sidelined since April 27 with an abdominal wall strain.
The right-hander had spent the last four seasons with the Phillies and helped the team to a World Series title in 2008, when he posted a 1.95 ERA and converted all 48 of his save opportunities during the regular season and playoffs.
The two-time All-Star has converted 225-of-270 save opportunities, and has a career ERA of 3.46 in 599 appearances (one start) with the Houston Astros, Phillies and Nationals. Lidge has struck out 796 in 601 innings, and owns a record of 26-31.
Washington also placed pitcher Henry Rodriguez on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 6, with a strained right index finger.
The 25-year-old right-hander has a 1-3 record with a 5.14 earned run average and nine saves in 24 relief appearances this season.
