Mets place P Young on paternity leave

The New York Mets placed pitcher Chris Young on the paternity leave list Wednesday.

Young made his first start in 13 months Tuesday against the Washington Nationals after missing most of 2011 due to shoulder surgery.

The 6-foot-10 right-hander surrendered three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and a walk through five innings

Young, 33, has appeared in 140 games -- all starts -- with the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and Mets over his nine-year career and holds a 49-34 record with a 3.74 ERA.
