Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper was named National League Rookie of the Month for the month of May.
The 19-year-old Harper hit .271 in May and led NL rookies with 21 runs scored and four triples. His 29 hits ranked him second among NL rookies while his four home runs were third.
He also finished the month with 10 RBI
Harper, who made his major league debut on April 28, had a .355 on-base percentage and .505 slugging percentage in his first full month in the big leagues.
Other players receiving votes included Diamondbacks pitcher Wade Miley, Padres first baseman Yonder Alonso, Phillies second baseman Freddy Galvis and Nationals outfielder Steve Lombardozzi.
