Toronto, ON –  The Toronto Blue Jays claimed pitcher Chris Schwinden off waivers Saturday and designated pitcher Daniel Farquhar for assignment.

Schwinden was placed on waivers by the New York Mets on Friday and is expected to report to the Blue Jays Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas.

The 25-year-old righty was 0-1 with a 12.46 earned run average in three games for the Mets this season.

Farquhar, 25, was 0-1 with a 2.97 ERA in 20 relief appearances with Double-A New Hampshire this year.
