The Oakland Athletics activated outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.

Cespedes landed on the DL on April 13 with a strained muscle in his left hand.

The Cuban defector was batting .200 with three home runs and seven RBI over 11 games for the A's this season.

To make room on the active roster, the Athletics designated outfielder Casper Wells for assignment.

Wells was acquired from the Blue Jays on Monday for cash considerations. He went hitless in five at bats over three games.

The 28-year-old was originally with Seattle this spring before being designated for assignment by the Mariners on March 31. He was claimed off waivers by Toronto on April 10, but did not play a game and was designated for assignment just five days later.
