The Pirates recalled infielder Jordy Mercer from Triple-A Indianapolis and optioned infielder Yamaico Navarro to Indianapolis on Tuesday.

Mercer hit .303 with 11 doubles and three home runs and 22 RBI in 47 games with Indianapolis this season. He played 28 games at shortstop, and 10 games at both second base and third base.

He hit safely in his last eight contests in Triple-A and batted .358 in 24 games in May.

Navarro, who was acquired in an offseason trade from Kansas City, hit .178 in 45 at-bats with Pittsburgh this year.
