The New England Patriots have released wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez.

New England had signed the former Colt in March.

Indianapolis selected Gonzalez with the 32nd pick of the 2007 draft and he had 37 receptions for 576 yards and three touchdowns through 13 games during his rookie campaign.

He followed that with 57 catches for 664 yards and four scores in 16 games in 2008, but has been hampered by injuries ever since, appearing in just 10 games over the last three seasons.

The Patriots also signed offensive lineman Jamey Richard, tight end Nick Melillo and defensive back Alfonzo Dennard.

Richard spent the past four seasons with the Colts, playing in 48 games. Melillo is a rookie free agent from Kentucky, while Dennard was selected by the Patriots in the seventh round of this year's draft.
