The Milwaukee Brewers placed catcher Jonathan Lucroy on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a boxer's fracture in his right hand.
Lucroy suffered the injury on Sunday night in his Los Angeles hotel room when his wife dropped a suitcase on his hand while he was reaching under the bed.
He was sent back to Milwaukee for further examination, but is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the injury.
The 25-year-old has appeared in 43 games for the Brewers this season, batting .345 with 10 doubles, five home runs and 30 RBI.
Milwaukee recalled catcher Martin Maldonado from Triple-A Nashville to fill the roster spot.
Maldonado is 0-for-1 with a strikeout in three games for the Brewers this year.
