INDIANAPOLIS – Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon have finally found the speed they've been looking for all month.
Franchitti, the Scottish driver with four IndyCar titles and two Indy 500 wins, topped during Friday's final tuneup for Sunday's Indianapolis 500 with a fast lap of 222.360 mph. Teammate Scott Dixon, the 2008 Indy winner, was second at 222.274.
American Marco Andretti continued to stay near the top, posting the third fastest lap of the day at 221.702.
Japan's Takuma Sato (221.078) and pole-sitter Ryan Briscoe (221.025) rounded out the top five.
Andretti's teammates, James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay, were eighth and 10th. Hinchcliffe is starting second and Hunter-Reay third Sunday. Ana Beatriz was the only driver who did not make it onto the track.
