Aurelio joins Gremio

Sao Paulo, Brazil – Gremio announced that the club has signed former Liverpool defender Fabio Aurelio.

Aurelio has battled injury issues the past few seasons which have limited his time on the field, and the Brazilian decided to return to his homeland after a 12-year stay in Europe with his contract set to expire at Anfield this summer.

The 32-year-old spent six seasons in Spain with Valencia before moving to Liverpool in 2006.

But after being limited to just two matches this past season because of injury for the Reds, Aurelio has signed a contract with Gremio that runs through 2013.
