Wild sign former first-round pick Granlund

The Minnesota Wild signed 2010 first-round pick Mikael Granlund to a three-year, entry-level contract on Wednesday.

Granlund, who was selected ninth overall two yeas ago, played the last three seasons for HIFK Helsinki in SM-Liiga, Finland's top league. He was named Rookie of the Year in 2009-10 and this past season recorded 20 goals and 51 points in 45 games.

The 20-year-old forward captained Finland's 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship team, tallying two goals and 11 points in seven games. He was also a member of Finland's World Championship team earlier this month, registering a goal and five points in 10 games.
