White Sox place Morel on DL; agree to terms with Hudson

The Chicago White Sox placed third baseman Brent Morel on the 15-day disabled list and agreed to terms on a one-year contract with infielder Orlando Hudson.

Morel has missed Chicago's last three games with a lumbar back strain. He is hitting .177 with five RBI and 14 runs scored over 35 games this season.

This is Morel's first career stint on the disabled list.

Hudson hit .211 with five triples, one home run, 11 RBI, 11 runs scored and three stolen bases in 35 games with San Diego this season before his release on May 17.

In 1,294 career games over 11 major-league seasons with Toronto (2002-05), Arizona (2006-08), Los Angeles-NL (2009), Minnesota (2010) and San Diego (2011-12), Hudson has hit .276 with 63 triples, 91 home runs, 525 RBI, 638 runs scored and 82 stolen bases.
