Brandon Phillips hit two home runs and Zack Cozart added a solo blast to lead the Reds past the Braves, 4-3, in the second of a four-game set at Great American Ball Park.

Mat Latos (3-2) gave up two runs on five hits and fanned eight over seven innings as the Reds picked up their fourth straight victory.

"I've been throwing a lot of pitches just to get to five innings," said Latos. "I was just ready to go. I was tired of just going five innings so it was good to go seven for once."

Aroldis Chapman struck out two and stranded a runner in the ninth to pick up his second save of the season.

Michael Bourn had a pair of solo homers and Jason Heyward had a RBI double for the Braves, losers in three of four.

Brandon Beachy (5-2) was pegged with the loss after giving up four runs on six hits over seven frames.

"I guess you have to tip your hat to their starting pitching," remarked Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez. "You hand the ball off to their bullpen and you're going to be in trouble."

The Braves jumped ahead 1-0 in the first when Bourn roped a leadoff homer. He worked a 3-2 count before sending the payoff pitch into the right field seats.

But the Reds answered right back in the home half of the frame when Phillips crushed a two-run bomb to center. Drew Stubbs reached on an error, stole second then moved to third when Joey Votto hit a fly ball to center. Phillips followed with his third homer of the season.

Cincinnati added to its lead in the third when Cozart smacked a solo homer, his fifth of the year.

But the Braves scored one in the fourth to make it 3-2. Dan Uggla drew a one- out walk then scored when Heyward doubled to right. It looked as if Reds right fielder Jay Bruce was going to play the carom, but the ball bounced under the pad on the wall and died on the warning track allowing Uggla to cruise home.

Phillips went deep again in the fourth to make it 4-2.

Atlanta came within one in the eighth when Bourn belted a 3-2 fastball over the wall in right-center for his second four-bagger of the game.
