Nationals activate Wang, disable Mattheus

The Washington Nationals activated pitcher Chien-Ming Wang from the 15-day disabled list and placed pitcher Ryan Mattheus on the 15-day DL on Tuesday.

Wang was projected to be the Nationals' fifth starter but began the season on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring. He has gone 3-0 with a 3.52 earned run average in five minor league starts this year but will likely come out of the bullpen for the parent club.

Mattheus landed on the DL with plantar fasciitis. He has posted a 2-1 record and a 2.25 ERA in 19 relief appearances for the Nationals this season.
