The Tampa Bay Rays acquired infielder Drew Sutton from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday in exchange for a player to be named or cash considerations.
Sutton, who the Pirates acquired on Sunday from the Atlanta Braves, spent 38 games playing for Triple-A Gwinnett in 2012. He hit .270 with 10 doubles, two triples and 15 RBI.
The Baylor University product has spent parts of three seasons with the Reds (2009-2010), Indians (2010), and most recently the Red Sox. Sutton appeared in 31 games for Boston in 2011, batting .315 with seven doubles, seven RBI and 11 runs scored.
