The San Diego Padres selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Matt Palmer from Triple-A Tucson and optioned right- hander Nick Vincent to Tucson.
Palmer is 4-2 with a 4.64 earned run average over seven starts this season with Tucson. The 33-year-old holds a 13-7 record with a 4.52 ERA in 60 major league games with the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 25-year-old Vincent sports an 0-1 record and a 15.43 ERA in 2 1/3 innings with Tucson this season.
The Padres also transferred left-handed pitcher Cory Luebke from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL with a strained left elbow.
