Chicago, IL – Chicago Cubs catcher Geovany Soto, who is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Soto, who had the procedure Friday, is batting .161 with three homers and six RBI in 28 games this season. He's expected to miss about three weeks due to a tear in the meniscus in his knee.
The Cubs replaced Soto on the roster by recalling right-handed pitcher Randy Wells from Triple-A Iowa. Wells made two starts for the parent club earlier this year and went 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA. He has also struggled for Iowa, going 2-2 with a 7.71 ERA in six starts.
