Washington, DC – The San Diego Padres have reinstated pitcher Tim Stauffer from the 15-day disabled list.
Stauffer began the season on the DL with a strained right elbow and will start Monday night against the Nationals.
Stauffer went 9-12 with a 3.73 earned run average in a career-high 31 starts for the Padres last year.
San Diego also optioned left-handed pitcher Josh Spence to Triple-A Tucson.
Spence was 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA in 11 relief appearances for the Padres this year.
