Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Da'Quan Bowers has suffered a torn Achilles tendon while participating in the club's offseason program.

Plans for surgery on Friday are being finalized.

Selected by Tampa Bay in the second round of the 2011 draft, Bowers had 25 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks in 16 games last season.

Earlier Thursday, the Bucs waived defensive lineman Myles Wade following the signing of wide receiver Tiquan Underwood. But Wade is now back with the team due to Bowers injury.

Instead, Tampa Bay has decided to waive rookie quarterback Jordan Jefferson.
